1. Statement Necklaces
Some might say they’re an awards show jewelry staple, and this year’s Golden Globes brought some striking statement necklaces. Lorde wore a sleek black pantsuit, and turned up the wattage with a 100 carat diamond and platinum bib necklace from Neil Lane that nearly took everyone’s breath away.
From the other side of the spectrum, Naomi Watts appeared at the Golden Globes in an iconic Bulgari Serpenti necklace featuring 75 carats of diamonds, which is touted as one of her favorite jewelry pieces. In fact, it’s her 5th time wearing the seductive diamond studded necklace, this time with a bright yellow gown.
2. Chandelier Earrings
One half of one of the most famous newly married couples of 2014, Amal Alamuddin Clooney attended the Golden Globes wearing a black dress accessorized with sleek white gloves and sparkling Harry Winston diamond chandelier earrings. Red carpet veteran Jennifer Lopez also chose to wear this style of statement jewelry with chandelier earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
Another Golden Globes favorite was Jennifer Aniston who took the red carpet with her hair styled in an up-do, keeping the focus on her Neil Lane yellow gold and onyx chandelier earrings. See more modern takes on the classic chandelier earring.
3. Pops of Colored Gemstones
The most exciting Golden Globes jewelry came in bright candy-colored hues, like Leslie Mann’s emerald earrings by Kimberly McDonald. Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o stunned in amethyst and peridot Chopard earrings. Colored gemstone fans will appreciate the gorgeous Lorraine Schwartz platinum, diamond and Paraíba tourmalines on Into the Woods nominee, Emily Blunt. The earrings and bracelet are noteworthy because they call attention to the rare Brazilian gemstone and stand out from the colorless diamonds present that night.
Fresh out of the Super Bowl spotlight, Katy Perry chose an 8 carat Asscher cut Fancy yellow diamond ring by Harry Kotlar to finish her Grammy Awards look in style.
4. Bracelets and Cuffs
Diamonds add the extra sparkle and shine highly sought after by awards show attendees, and widely appreciated by fans alike. At the Golden Globes, supermodel Cindy Crawford donned a Harry Winston platinum and diamond link bracelet. How to Get Away with Murder star Viola Davis wore an exquisite 1950s platinum cuff bracelet with 39 carats of diamonds by designer Fred Leighton. Mary J. Blige brought her own luminous style to a pre-Grammy gala in Sutra Jewels diamond bangles and a Jorge Adeler bracelet.
5. Edgy Ear Cuffs
While cuff bracelets are the norm for celebrity events, ear cuff jewelry took front and center stage at the SAG Awards. Birdman nominee Emma Stone’s diamond and white gold ear cuff by Repossi was unexpected, yet fitting for her fashion-forward red carpet style. SAG Awards nominee for The Imitation Game, Keira Knightley followed suit with her own ear cuff, also by Repossi of diamonds in pink gold.
At the Grammy Awards, the talented Jesse J chose an artistic Sutra Jewels black gold and diamond ear cuff to pair with her black diamond ear climber by Doves by Doron Paloma which set her apart from the competition. It’s refreshing to see celebrities with a little extra edge in their jewelry selections.
