Every year, television’s most important award ceremony, the Emmys, sets the stage for fall and winter fashion. On the red carpet for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, celebrities showed off jewelry in an array of soft, feminine-colors, something of  a departure from last year’s bright, bold color.

There’s no color more feminine than pink, which was the color of choice for many: Kristen Schaal wore pink coral jewelry with diamonds. Teyonah Parris donned a Carrera y Carrrera pink quartz ring, and Viola Davis contrasted her blue dress with a mixture of pink colors in her ruby and pink sapphire earrings by Sutra. Halle Berry was elegant in Doves by Doron Paloma amethyst and and mother-of-pearl earrings which were the perfect compliment to her similarly colored gown.

Sapphires were a popular gemstone for this event. The are available in just about every color of the rainbow. In addition to her earrings, Berry wore an impressive blue sapphire ring by Sutra. The stunning pop of blue from Melissa Rauch’s diamond and blue sapphire earrings wowed onlookers, as did Melissa McCarthy’s African sapphire ring by Doves by Doron Paloma.

Lucy Liu wore rays of sunshine with a yellow diamond ring and earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.  And Heidi Klum expressed the cooler feel of green  with her emerald and diamond bracelet and earrings of emeralds, diamonds and white jade, also by Lorraine Schwartz.

Last year’s Emmy trends were all about big rings and bold colors. Which color palette do you prefer—bright bold colors, or the softer, more feminine look?
