Zodiac-Inspired Jewelry: Taurus

Published April 20, 2015

Loyal? Patient? Dependable? If that sounds like you, then you’re probably a Taurus, and we have some jewelry to go with your birth sign.

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, April 20-May 20, and can be a bit challenging to find in the night sky. Though it may be hidden in the heavens, Taurus is rich in earthly symbolism. It represents virtue, power, and royalty, and not surprisingly, stubbornness and lust.

The bull, the representation of Taurus, has been used as a symbol for millennia. It was worshipped in pharaonic Egypt. Ancient Hindus considered it to be the embodiment of fertility.  Ancient Greeks had their version: the Minotaur, a man-headed bull who lived in the Labyrinth and feasted on Athenian maidens and youths. In Chinese culture, the bull is a symbol of perseverance, determination, and stability .

Since the bull keeps on making surprise appearances through the centuries, there is plenty of spectacular jewelry for your zodiacal sign.

Lydia Courteille’s Taurus ring radiates pure power. A stark contrast of black and diamonds and a ferocious red fleck that is the eye is softened by a chrysoprase. Five-pointed, diamond-studded stars flicker in the shank. An imaginative use of negative space is a pleasing contrast to the solid bull’s head.

Here’s a different take on Taurus: one of the personality traits of the sign is loyalty. Amethyst historically has symbolized it, and a bouquet of them (with diamond stems) sends a subtle message about your lovely personality.
