Here’s a charming story about the origin of the sign: Justitia fled to the heavens when she grew tired of humanity’s never-ending quarrels. Justitia became two zodiac signs: the goddess became Virgo, and her scales became Libra. One can trace Libra further back in time: the zodiac sign probably originated in Mesopotamia or Ancient Babylon, where it also symbolized fairness.
